Growler Visuals is a multi-platform visual media production company specializing in non-fiction video production and visual storytelling. The company typically works with lean production teams to streamline the creative process, ensuring clients have a simple, efficient experience while maintaining quality, budgets, and timelines.

In 2007, Growler Visuals was founded by Wil Weldon as Growler Productions. Beginning with the production of Pass It On, a documentary about Reynolds Price’s teaching career at Duke
University. Since then, Growler Visuals has grown into much more than a single feature-length documentary, becoming a platform for sharing powerful stories of innovation and celebrating education, the arts, the sciences, and human achievement.

Our Brand: Growler Visuals

Growler inherited its name because it was the “trail name” Wil used during his 2001 Appalachian Trail hike. For six challenging months, he met hundreds of people along the trail. These people came to know him only as “Growler.” The name came from the noises he made while eating, though he’s much more civilized these days. Wil kept the name because that journey helped him realize that non-fiction video storytelling was what he truly wanted to pursue as his life’s work.
